Background
Anness Publishing was founded in 1988 and is now the largest independent book publisher in the UK. In our first 22 years we sold in excess of 140,000,000 books. Each year we produce around 300 new titles on subjects ranging from cooking and crafts to gardening, new age, reference, hobbies and transport plus a lively list of pre-school activity and home study reference books for children.
Quality
All the books are expertly and meticulously produced, and every title in the programme is lavishly illustrated with high quality colour illustrations. For practical subjects the techniques, projects and recipes are always shown with step-by-step photography which we specially produce in-house.
Depth
Our back catalogue consists of over 3,000 titles, and we have generated over 400,000 colour images for which we own copyright.

Imprints of Anness Publishing
LORENZ BOOKS is our trade sales imprint for new hardback titles, and is celebrating its 17th year in 2010. Lorenz has justifiably forged a reputation as one of the foremost imprints in illustrated publishing worldwide, and has 800 books in its backlist and issues over 70 titles in each publishing season, Spring and Autumn.
AQUAMARINE is our prestigious, award-winning list of up-market lifestyle directories. This imprint was launched in 2000 and has continued to achieve success through the publication of beautifully designed, illustrated books for cooking, gardening and crafts.
SOUTHWATER is our trade paperback imprint, renowned for its extremely competitive pricing policy, its fantastic content, wonderful packaging and the depth of its programme, which consists of over 700 backlist books and a new programme of 150 titles each year.
HERMES HOUSE & PEONY PRESS are our imprints for non-trade sales, promotional sales and customised publishing for major customers. We have around 600 titles available in reformatted Hermes House editions, and over 130 beautiful items of social stationery in our Peony range of gift cards, blank books, postcards, photo-albums and gift boxes. Material for Hermes House is specially repackaged and reprinted to order, redesigned to fit customer's own-brand or house publishing programmes, promotional needs, advertising campaigns or the particular requirements of companies outside of the mainstream book market.
PRACTICAL PICTURES is the photo-library of over 400,000 images we have generated in the process of developing our 3,000 titles in the past 15 years. It comprises over 160,000 pictures of food, cooking techniques, ingredients and finished recipes; over 50,000 pictures of gardening techniques, outdoor projects, garden plants and tools; and so on through New Age (massage, Feng Shui, herbalism, reflexology etc), Crafts, Animals, Children's activities, and much much more
RIGHTS, CO-EDITIONS and TRANSLATION SALES Finally, all of our books and products are available for sale in translation. APL has a long and proud history of selling titles to European publishers to market in their own languages, either in finished book form, or licensed in film and royalty agreements.
